Guangzhou BRT is a next-generation Bus Rapid Transit system. The first phase opened on 10 February 2010. Guangzhou's BRT benefits bus and metro passengers in Guangzhou, as well as bus operators, car drivers and the general public. Commuters along the 23km phase I corridor on Zhongshan Avenue save significant travel time each day, and the bus passenger experience has been greatly improved. With a peak ridership of around 25,000 passengers per hour in one direction, Guangzhou's BRT has more than triple the passenger capacity of any other BRT system in Asia.
